5 Jaguars players that could be traded after training camp

The Jacksonville Jaguars have built a well-rounded roster in the offseason and have a relatively clean bill of health after seven days of training camp. This is great news heading into the 2023 season, as they have the depth to overcome injuries * knocks on wood * in case any of their starters go down.

One added benefit of having depth at most position groups is that the Jags could move a handful of players in exchange for future assets (e.g. draft picks). So if the team's brass sees fit, they could trade any of the next five players.

The Jags' cornerback room was in pretty bad shape as recently as 2020. Having traded Jalen Ramsey the year before and missing then-rookie C.J. Henderson to a season-ending injury, the coaching staff had to rely on Chris Claybrooks, Tre Herndon, and Sidney Jones, who had been signed to the practice squad and was later promoted to the active roster.

Since then, the Jags have revamped their cornerback room, signing Shaquill Griffin, Darious Williams, and Tyson Campbell. Although Griffin, along with Henderson, is no longer with the team, Williams and Campbell are set to start in the boundaries in 2023. Similarly, Herdon is slated to line up in the slot.

Herndon, an undrafted free agent in 2018, has remained in Jacksonville in spite of the turnover. Having the ability to play inside and outside certainly helps him, and given his experience, it's not earth-shattering news that the team's brass wants him to handle slot duties.

Having said that, Greg Junior, a sixth-round pick in last year's draft, has made progress and could challenge Herndon for the nickel job. Also, rookies Antonio Johnson and Erick Hallet II have gotten reps in the slot throughout the offseason and both have made progress in training camp.

If either Hallet or Johnson keeps improving in the upcoming weeks, the Jaguars could feel tempted to shop Herndon around. Due to the demand for corners and Herndon's flexibility at the position, there should be no shortage of potential suitors.
